Job Overview
The Project Manager is in charge for the successful project execution in time, cost and quality of projects within SHL Medical. They will hold end-to-end responsibility for an assigned project from project intake/project planning to end of validation/ handover to production. They will manage teams from cross-functional disciplines to ensure that project-, manufacturing- and regulatory requirements, schedules and budget are managed within the set project goals. Overall responsibilities are planning, budget management, resource allocation as well as risk management and project team leadership. In order to achieve optimal customer satisfaction, they need to be engaged with Business Development starting from incubation stage of the project and maintain good communication and relationship with the customer throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities
- Define project scope, objectives and major milestones in alignment with sponsor and internal program and product managers.
- Forecast resources needed to reach objectives; assemble a Project Team with the appropriate range of skills and experience and make sure that all members perform their tasks at their best.
- Monitor project performance to identify areas for improvement and make adjustments as needed.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks and escalate identified risks at an early stage.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs and ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on planned changes.
- Work with the Project Team to develop a detailed project schedule and work plan.
- Define and manage working packages, project phases and sub-projects to coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless project execution in time, cost and quality.
- Track and manage the project schedule and ensure the availability of deliverables on time. Track and manage the project budget according to the approved project order , scope of work and defined resources.
- Organize and lead regular project team meetings to discuss current project status, technical progress for work packages, align on technical solutions, identify, discuss and resolve project issues on milestones, budget and quality and coordinate tasks and resources.
- Organize project steering meetings with the defined steering team to oversee project status, provide guidance and advice.
- Organize design review meetings as defined by the design control process to review technical robustness and design maturity, activities & documents, issues, changes to plan and additions to the plan.
- Organize gate review meetings with local and global stakeholders to add a business-driven review and to review the outcome of the Design Review, resource situation, market/ customer requirements, investment decisions.
- Provide monthly reports to PMO and other stakeholders about milestones, budget status, deliverables, required adjustments, and overall progress.
- Follow the global PM process with respect to harmonized global PM practices, methods and tools.
- Follow all applicable quality/compliance procedures and templates, ensure project outcome is compliant to regulatory and manufacturing requirements.
- Face to the customer for projects without program manager and matrix reporting to the program manager in projects that are part of a program.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in project management
- Profound knowledge of project management processes, methodologies and tools & techniques and ability to adapt them to the organization.
- 2+ years’ experience in product and/or equipment development projects in regulated industries, with preference in the medical devices, automotive, aerospace sectors).
- Engineering degree or similar
- Fluency in English
Preferred Requirements
- Advanced time and risk management skills.
- Ability to encourage and enable people to work together as a team to reach common goals.
- Ability to influence decisions that need to be made to make the project successful.
- PMP Certification preferred .
- Experience with digital Project Management tools like MS Project, PLM.
- Relatively high seniority to ensure collaboration with Managing Director and other senior staff on eye level.
- Other languages are considered an advantage, preferably German.
