Job Overview
The Lab Engineer is responsible for setting-up, maintaining and supporting the operational readiness of the testing & materials laboratory, ensuring that equipment, infrastructure, and materials are available and functioning to enable efficient and compliant testing activities. Further, the Lab Engineer participates in the development of test models, validation of test methods and supports the execution of design characterization, assessment, and verification tests. He/she engages with the global testing network and contributes to the centers of excellence within the Global Materials, Simulations and Testing organization in the field of drug delivery systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure operational reliability and compliance.
- Prepare laboratory QMS documents, reports, and records to meet internal and external requirements
- Execution and documentation of test activities, including data collection and analysis.
- Development of test models to support pipeline projects
- Validation of test methods to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage lab inventory, consumables, infrastructure and logistics to support ongoing and future testing needs
- Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of lab systems, including SOPs/WIs/Templates, asset management and safety protocols.
- Participate in internal and external audit activities.
- Pro-active communication with internal and external stakeholders
Minimum requirements
- Relevant working knowledge and experience in similar role (e.g. ideally more than 3 years of relevant work experience)
- Hands-on experience in laboratory equipment use, maintenance and calibration.
- Knowledge of test execution of various industrial measurement technologies (force, torque, optical, multisensory, …) and documentation in a regulated environment.
- Familiarity with QMS documentation and compliance standards (e.g., ISO14385 and/or ISO17025).
- Strong organizational skills for managing lab inventory, infrastructure, calibration plans, and logistics
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- This poistion is based on-site in zug and requires regular in-person attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Measurement technician, physics laboratory assistant, polymechanic or degree in the field of mechatronics, mechanical engineering, health sciences and technology or a related field of study. In lieu of a degree, 10 or more years of relevant experience may suffice.
- Experience with model development, test method validation and statistical analysis.
- Prior involvement in audits.
- Ability to analyze technical problems and systematically develop detailed solutions
- Ability to work effectively with other departments in cross-functional projects and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Open-minded, proactive, persistent, results- and execution-oriented, and able to work under pressure in changing environments
- Fluent in written and spoken German
- Able to travel internationally (up to 5-10%)
