Job Overview

The Platform Development department leads the design aspects of our cutting-edge autoinjector product platforms. This includes the definition of our platforms development roadmap, product design and development, sustaining engineering, continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring our product platform remain reliable, compliant, and competitive in evolving markets. We currently have two internship opportunities available - Platform Design and Platform Architect.

The internship will give you experience on different design phases of product development, including product requirements definition, CAD design of parts and assemblies, analytical system modeling, development of test method and analysis of results, and design analysis. The exact tasks will be adapted based on the skills you already have and want to develop, your interests, and the project needs.

As part of the Platform Development team, you will closely collaborate with design, simulation, manufacturing, assembly, testing and process experts based across our global sites in Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan and US to develop and improve our product platforms. 

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities entail product development support for mechanical design, execution of device design tasks for one of SHL’s platforms including device architecture refinement, engineering requirement establishment, 3D/2D modeling, Design for Functionality/Manufacturability/Sustainability/Cost, performance analysis and risk-based design assessment planning, etc., to fulfill all product requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Student in Engineering, Applied Sciences or other equivalent education   
• ​​Strong theoretical understanding of solid mechanics and mechanics of materials  
• ​​Experience or interest experience in one or more of the following fields:
  • Structural or Injection Moulding Simulation 
  • Design optimization and optimization methods
  • ​System Modelling and Hand Calculations 
  • ​​​Polymers and Rubber Materials
  • ​​Test and validation activities 
  • ​Other simulation areas like (Printed Circuit Boards, Noise, CFD…) 
• ​​Independent thinker who is willing to discover new solutions off the beaten tracks   
• ​​Strong intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills in English (spoken/written)  

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in technologies related to advanced high-volume manufacturing  
• Positive, curious, diligent, reliable and target oriented team player
