Job Overview
The Business Process Manager Design Transfer plays a key role in shaping and optimizing end-to-end processes at the interface between product design and industrialization. The primary focus of this role is to ensure a structured, transparent and efficient transfer of product designs into industrialized solutions, enabling a seamless transition from development to manufacturing.
Acting as a central integrator across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations, the role reduces interface complexity, clarifies responsibilities and ensures that design intent is consistently translated into manufacturable and scalable outcomes. While leveraging a solid understanding of manufacturing technologies such as, tooling, injection molding, assembly, and component manufacturing, the role emphasizes process clarity, alignment, and governance over detailed process development. Based in Zug, this role will collaborate closely with other process managers and cross-functional teams to ensure effective and efficient workflows.
Ultimately, this position enables faster, more predictable, and higher-quality product industrialization by establishing robust, lean, and scalable design transfer processes across the product lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve Design Transfer Processes across the product lifecycle, ensuring a structured transition from product development to industrialization and Manufacturing.
- Define and standardize design transfer deliverables, milestones, and governance, ensuring clarity of responsibilities, inputs, and outputs across functions.
- Ensure the translation of design intent into manufacturing-relevant specifications and deliverables, supporting robust industrialization of products, including their structured transfer into the Device Master Record (DMR) to support compliant and robust industrialization.
- Act as the key interface between R&D and Manufacturing Engineering, driving alignment between design solutions and manufacturing capabilities (DFM/DFA principles, tooling, injection molding, assembly and component manufacturing).
- Develop and maintain process documentation and training materials (e.g. Work Instructions, Templates, Guidelines) in alignment with applicable standards and QMS requirements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of design transfer processes, identify interface gaps, and implement improvements to increase robustness and reduce time-to-industrialization.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops and alignment sessions to strengthen shared understanding, clarify expectations, and improve collaboration at the design–manufacturing interface.
- Translate business needs into functional solutions and work with system architects to implement and validate PLM solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years experience in Design Transfer and/or product industrialization processes in regulated industries with a proven track record working at the interface between R&D and Manufacturing Engineering
- Solid understanding of manufacturing technologies and tooling (e.g. injection molding, assembly, component manufacturing), mechanical design, Design Controls and DFM principles.
- Excellent analytical and structuring skills with a focus on clarity, simplification, and execution
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively across all organizational levels, promoting transparency and collaboration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
- Fluency in English
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with PLM systems and digital documentation workflows (e.g. Teamcenter, Polarion, Signavio, SolidWorks)
- Experience applying agile methodologies in process design
- Certification in Design for Six Sigma, Process Management or Project Management (e.g. PMI, IPMA) is a plus.
- Additional training in manufacturing technologies (e.g. tooling, injection molding, automation, assembly systems) is a strong advantage
- Experience with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, FDA regulations, or similar compliance frameworks.
- German or Chinese language skills a plus
