Job Overview
The Site Controller acts as the key financial partner to the Head of Operations for SHL Medical’s new manufacturing site in Zug, Switzerland. The role oversees the financial performance and controlling activities of the Zug site, with responsibility for COGS, operating expenses, facility costs, CAPEX, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Working closely with local site leadership, the Site Controller provides the financial insights needed to support operational and business decisions.
Main Responsibilities
- Partner with the Head of Operations Switzerland as the trusted finance advisor, providing financial guidance and influencing business decisions to optimize profitability and cost performance.
- Deliver financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making, business planning, and ad-hoc management requests.
- Develop and discuss monthly financial reporting on manufacturing performance, including COGS, operating expenses, productivity, material costs, absorption, and budget variances.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the Swiss Operations and Facility organizations.
- Monitor operational and financial KPIs, identify trends, analyze variances, and recommend actions to improve business performance.
- Support CAPEX planning, tracking, and reporting for the Operations and Facility organizations.
- Partner with Operations to improve financial performance through cost optimization, process improvements, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Support global product costing and cost simulation initiatives by providing accurate financial data and cost driver analysis.
- Collaborate with Finance Business Partners across global manufacturing sites to standardize product costing, reporting, and financial processes.
- Build strong partnerships with local site leadership and promote close collaboration between Finance, Operations, and other functions at the Zug manufacturing site.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years supporting a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with SAP, particularly with analyzing production order variances, is required.
- Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business partnering.
- Strong background in all areas of cost accounting (standard cost setting & inventory valuation, work order variances, PPV, scrap, inventory reserves)
- Experience influencing and collaborating with senior stakeholders in a matrix organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA, SAP PS, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP BW, or comparable ERP and Business Intelligence systems.
- Experience within the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, Manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is required.
