Senior Program Manager

Job Overview
The Program Manager will play a vital role in the Global Program and Project Management organization and will lead a medical device product development portfolio of high complexity, team size, and responsibility for one or two major customer(s) of SHL Medical. The portfolio consists of a project portfolio of multiple projects and other activities in product development and on-market support. The Program Manager utilizes advanced program management and communication skills to achieve technical and business goals.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the key point of contact and representative for technical topics towards the customer for the assigned project portfolio. Represent the program in steering meetings with customers and internal stakeholders. In this role, 
  • Support post-market activities as needed to assess product performance and identify opportunities for improvement 
  • Support close collaboration with other core customer engaging functions (including, but not limited to: commercial, quality, operations, supply chain)
  • Manage one or more portfolio(s) and/or program timeline(s) with dependencies and conditions including resource and budget; balance external (customer) and internal interests. Use advanced methods to predict cost, timeline and quality impacts 
  • Build and maintain good and constructive working relationships with main internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure proper planning, estimation, and control of costs of multiple complex projects to complete them within the approved budget; includes resource planning and cost budgeting. 
  • Management of program and portfolio risks incl. mitigation activities; using risk management as tool throughout the project or product life cycle  to define mitigations, plan alternative scenarios and derive necessary buffers from the risk registers to implement in timeline, incl. strategical business decisions
  • Establish business cases for technical proposals
  • Create a meeting structure, communication process and regular reporting on the portfolio level on budget, timelines, quality and risk ; establish an active communication channel to team members, stakeholders and customers; Leverage steering meetings for reporting and problem solving
  • Lead , support and coach Project Managers and cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring and assessing the program's overall performance and potential risks and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Limited amount of travel  is required (mainly visit customer location and SHL production location)


Skills and Qualification

  • Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Proven experience (5yr+) as a program manager and/or senior project manager 
  • Deep technical understanding and experience in the development of medical devices. 
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams within complex organizations through motivational and teambuilding skills, as well as strong influence management skills
  • Advanced project management skills in portfolio management and multi-project management to manage a project portfolio with multiple complex programs and projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cooperatively at all levels in a matrix environment to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish organizational goals
  • Effective decision-making skills - ability to negotiate and balance decisions and priorities across needs of several functional departments. Makes timely decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty
