Job Overview

SHL Medical is seeking a Senior Statistician to join their Statistics & Data Science department. The team is a key driver for the transition to a data- and science-driven company.

In this position, the Senior Statistician can expect to work closely with experts from various domains to solve critical business and engineering problems in high impact projects that affect the entire organization. The candidate should be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders to drive the digital transformation and develop new data-driven solutions.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product development teams to design and analyze experiments for new product features and improvements.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes through statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Partner with quality control teams to develop and implement statistical quality control methods.
  • Collect and clean data from various data sources. (e.g. SQL databases, CSV files)
  • Analyze functional data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive decision-making.
  • Develop and apply causal models to understand the impact of various factors on product performance and quality.
  • Provide statistical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Design and conduct hypothesis tests, regression analyses, and other statistical methods to support business objectives.
  • Understand the potential and limitations of data and analytical methods.
  • Tailor and enhance data or methods to improve solutions.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and visualizations of statistical findings to stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with the latest statistical techniques and tools.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a statistical role, preferably in product development, manufacturing or quality assurance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Critical and creative thinking.
  • Ability to apply scientific methods to solve engineering and business problems.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of functional data analysis and causal modeling techniques.
  • Experience with experimental design and analysis (DoE).
  • Proven track record of applying statistical methods to real-world problems.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-statistical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders, engineers, and specialists from different domains and with different cultural backgrounds.
  • A drive to learn, master, and promote data-driven technologies and techniques.

 

Language

  • Must have: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for coordinating and reporting across teams.
  • Nice to have: Mandarin
