Job Overview
The Senior Facilities Plumber is responsible for leading and coordinating plumbing projects within the organization. This role involves providing technical expertise, performing plumbing repairs and installations, and ensuring all work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and company standards. The Senior Facilities Plumber plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality work, fostering a positive relationship between leadership and the team, and ensuring effective communication across all levels.
Main Responsibilities
Installation, Maintenance, and Repair:
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
• Work with various materials like PVC, CPVC, PEX, Trans-Air, cast iron, and copper.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing problems, identifying the root cause and recommending solutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance to enhance the longevity and efficiency of plumbing systems.
• Respond to and repair water leaks or plumbing problems.
• Assist in the installation of HVAC/R units, heaters, motors, compressors and mini splits and equipment.
Technical Skills:
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to ensure proper installation and repair.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including work orders, time sheets, and reports.
• Document maintenance activities using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and company policies.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to ensure safety and compliance with internal policies.
Mentoring and Training:
• Provide guidance and training to junior technicians.
• Evaluate technicians' skill sets and provide on-site training sessions to improve proficiency.
Other Duties:
• Coordinate and assist with the repair and maintenance of building equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, water pumps, air compressors, heat exchanges, cooling systems, and fluid instrumentation.
• Assist in the inspection, testing, repairing, and removal of chemical process equipment.
• Maintain and manage inventory of parts and materials for plumbing and facility equipment.
• Monitor the Building Management System (BMS).
• Work effectively with customers, vendors, outside contractors and internal departments.
• Follow all SHL Medical OSHA, and EPA safety guidelines.
• Must understand the Confine Space Entry, LOTO, and any other Safety
protocols.
• Must be able to minimize breakdowns and repairs (performing quality checks of all machine equipment, etc.)
• Must be able to support Facility maintenance, and shutdown during holidays and off hours.
• Must be able to work Weekend and Holidays
Skills and Qualification
• High school diploma or equivalent, completion of a plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent training, a journeyman or master-level plumbing license, extensive experience in plumbing operations (7+ years), and strong skills in troubleshooting, repairs, and code compliance.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, including preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex maintenance issues.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations and ISO standards.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner
• Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when handling emergencies
• Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with staff and leadership
• Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy, make decisions based on measurable criteria and comprehend technical data.
• Ability to work a schedule Monday- Friday Dayshift. Be able to take on short notice assignments, emergencies, nights, weekends and overtime (scheduled and unscheduled), as required/needed.
