Sr. Legal Counsel

Job Overview

The position is responsible for managing the organization's dispute and litigation portfolio, including complex transactional, contractual, and employment-related disputes, while overseeing relationships with external counsel and insurance carriers. The role also handles corporate governance, compliance, and secretarial functions, including the filing and maintenance of business and company registrations in the United States and the upkeep of legal documents and corporate records.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitors and manages potential disputes and litigations, including complex transactional and contractual disputes, employment and labor disputes, and manages external counsels and insurance carriers.
  • Close collaboration with Human Resources on employment law related matters.
  • Carry out corporate governance, compliance, and secretarial responsibilities, including but not limited to filing for and maintaining business and company registrations in the United States, and maintain legal documents and corporate records.
  • Provides legal services, including preparation, drafting, and negotiation of legal documents for commercial as well as corporate transactions.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and well-reasoned advice on complex legal matters and keeps executives advised on key legal topics impacting the organization.
  • Leads complex contract negotiations with the world’s leading various vendors.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation and monitoring of appropriate internal policies and regional and global legal trainings for executives and employees of the organization.
  • Implements and executes the short-term and long-term goals of the Legal Department and the organization.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Legal.

 

Skills and Qualification

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of South Carolina.
  • Must have 7 to 10 years of diverse PQE, including law firm or in-house experience.
  • Background in medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry, health regulatory environment, and intellectual property licensing and management a plus.
  • Experienced in working in diverse, cross-cultural working environment with people from all over the world.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast paced environment and to complete multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner independently or to collaborate with others.
