Job Overview

 

The Senior Buyer – Indirect manages strategic sourcing initiatives for indirect materials, services, and general operating supplies. This role manages the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management. Using a clear understanding of financial impact and business accounting, maintain communication with the Supply Chain Manager, suppliers, and internal customers. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations while driving efficiency and value. Collaborates with the Supply Chain Manager, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives.

 

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Lead Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs), including supplier identification, bid analysis, and contract negotiation
  • Establish and maintain a preferred supplier base, ensuring alignment with company quality, cost, and compliance requirements
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms that align with business objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. Engineering, Quality, and Finance) to identify and qualify new suppliers that align with business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards related to supplier selection and sourcing
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to optimize costs, mitigate risks, and ensure long-term supplier partnerships
  • Establish and manage supplier performance metrics (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, and delivery
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through strategic negotiations and supplier consolidation
  • Hold periodic supplier review meetings to assess performance, address challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal stakeholders on procurement processes
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Skills and Qualification

 

  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years in an indirect materials/MRO/CAPEX in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience working with ERP programs, preferably SAP
  • Strong history of working in a fast-paced environment while abiding by processes and protocols
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP Certification a plus
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Must be very process-oriented and maintain a constant vigilance towards process improvement by proposing new methods and technological/automated solutions
  • Demonstrated ability in developing effective long-term strategies to support business plans
  • Strong ability to influence stakeholders and build effective relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and executive leadership
  • Strong Project Management skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
