Job Overview

The Regional Finance Business Partner for the US Medical Business Unit is the trusted advisor of the Head of Operations of the US production site in North Charleston. The Senior Finance Business Partner is responsible for executing of quantitative and qualitative analysis with respect to Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), Facility costs and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX), directly supporting the US Operations organization. The role will be based in Charleston (SC) and is part of the Global Financial Planning & Analysis Team, reporting into the Global Head of FP&A. The role will be overseeing a team of 1 FTE.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as Senior Finance Business Partner for the Head of Operations in US advising and influencing them on financial decisions and levers to optimize gross profit and ensure cost control
  • Provide the COO and Head of Operations Taiwan with solid data, in-depth analyses, and recommendations to support decision-making and ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and informal leader for the FP&A team in Charleston, fostering collaboration, alignment, and knowledge sharing across stakeholders
  • Provide monthly financial reports on detailed Cost of Good Sold (COGS) for the US production site, showing performance versus budget as well as positive or negative variances as well as underlying drivers and explanations and presenting these to the Group COO and Head of Operations.
  • Develop, distribute, and discuss monthly financial reporting packages, focusing on operations and manufacturing performance, tracking productivity, material expenses, operating expenses, absorption, etc.
  • Collect and report CAPEX needs for the US Operations and Facility organization.
  • Work closely together with the Global Finance Business Partner for Operations as well as Finance Business Partners of other Production sites, e.g. in Switzerland or Taiwan, to drive process standardization for product costing across all manufacturing sites in the Global SHL Medical network.
  • Guide and advise the Operations and Facility organizations in Charleston with all budgeting and forecasting needs.
  • Support the ramp-up of critical investments within Operations to expand the company’s footprint, for example the expanding or constructing production sites in the US.
  • Implement KPIs for the Operations organization and drive continuous monitoring of performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing variances; Advise the business on actions and improvement potential based on the outcomes
  • Identify and recommend potential improvements in the business area with relevant stakeholders to enhance performance, efficiency, or results.
  • Support the global product cost simulation initiative by delivering accurate data and acquiring a deep understanding of the cost drivers, methodology, and calculations.
  • Promote a global “one team approach” within the Finance team and collaborate closely with different functions, departments and country teams in SHL.

 

Skills and Qualification

 

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Science, Industrial Engineering or similar
  • 10+ years of finance experience, including 3+ years in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Knowledge of Finance within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Device, or Manufacturing industries.
  • Proven leadership capability, ideally with experience working in an international environment, including matrix organizations.
  • Independent and confident presentation style with the ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proficient in “story-telling,” with the ability to translate financial data into management presentations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude; an energetic leader able to gather energy and build followership.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to gain trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Responsible, resilient, and stress-resistant.
  • Strong know-how of SAP S4, SAP PS, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP BW or other BI systems
