Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced IT/OT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in North Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure design and implementation. As an IT/OT Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, managing and maintaining our company’s IT/OT infrastructure, including networking equipment, servers, and interfaces for the operational data exchange within and between IT and OT.
All areas require skill and knowledge of troubleshooting, system maintenance and implementation, best practices, customer-focused communication, and a support attitude. You will report to the Head of Infrastructure Europe/Americas and work closely with the IT teams in Switzerland, Taiwan, Sweden and the USA.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage the IT infrastructure to support the organization’s operations and connectivity with Operational Technology, ensuring the systems and services are reliable, secure, and scalable.
  • Take ownership of network infrastructure, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Cisco networking equipment and Fortinet firewalls to ensure optimal performance, security, and compliance.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, VMware virtualization platforms, and Active Directory domain services to maintain high availability and performance.
  • Support the design and implementation of connectivity, integration, and data exchange management for OT used in manufacturing and facilities.
  • Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patch management to keep systems current and in compliance with security and regulatory standards.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze network and server performance, identifying and addressing any areas of concern to prevent outages and ensure business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT/OT infrastructure issues, working collaboratively with other teams as needed to diagnose and remediate problems.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of the IT/OT infrastructure, including network topology, server configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of IT and IT/OT projects, ensuring the infrastructure can support new initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the team and serve as an escalation point for critical infrastructure issues.
  • Cooperate closely with the Information Security organization to enhance and improve security setups for network and server infrastructures.
  • Support the development and execution of disaster recovery plans, including backup and failover strategies for critical systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 6+ years of experience in IT/OT infrastructure design, implementation, and management required.
  • Expertise in network infrastructure management, including configuration and troubleshooting of:
    • Cisco networking equipment
    • Fortinet (FortiGate) firewalls
    • WLAN management
    • Good understanding of network routing and switching
    • Network segmentation experience
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with server administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting:
    • Microsoft Windows Servers
    • VMware server virtualization
    • Microsoft Active Directory domain services
    • Ideally, file servers & clusters, DFS
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation of operational processes is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with other teams and stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of IT/OT integration and interaction, with the ability to manage and maintain complex systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including cybersecurity and data protection requirements.
  • Ideally, experience with project management and the ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to document and maintain accurate records of IT/OT infrastructure and processes.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems (ICS) and associated protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to document IT/OT processes and provide knowledge transfer to team members and end-users.
  • Demonstrated customer interaction skills and teamwork competencies.
  • Experience designing disaster recovery and contingency planning is a plus.
  • Experience in CSV (Computer System Validation) process is a plus.
  • A high level of autonomy combined with solid time management skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively.
