Job Overview
The Global Sustainability Manager (Operations Lead) is responsible for driving the implementation and consistent execution of SHL Medical’s sustainability strategy across sites globally. Reporting to the Group Head of Sustainability, the role supports the development and leads the deployment of the sustainability operating model, ensuring that sustainability targets, policies, and standards are translated into practical processes, standardized KPIs, and effective performance management across all sites. Acting as a key business partner to Operations and site leadership, the role works closely with stakeholders to embed sustainability into day-to-day operations, monitor performance, and support continuous improvement.
This position requires a hands-on and structured professional with experience in performance management, governance, and multi-site environments, as well as strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the design and continuous improvement of the global sustainability operating model, including governance frameworks, processes and KPIs, for Sustainability related topic in general, and EHS in particular, across sites and functions
- Coordinate and drive the rollout of sustainability processes across existing sites, new sites, acquisitions, and greenfield projects and support sites in adopting and embedding processes effectively
- Monitor sustainability/EHS performance across sites, including tracking KPIs, identifying deviations, and supporting corrective actions
- Act as a business partner to site teams, providing guidance and support to improve performance
- Own the sustainability systems landscape and data governance, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance monitoring
- Coordinate global sustainability/EHS management systems including auditing (e.g., PSCI, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), preparation, follow-up, and tracking of corrective actions, supporting sites in achieving and maintaining audit readiness
- Drive capability building and change management across sites, supporting teams through training, guidance, and ongoing engagement to ensure effective adoption of sustainability processes
- Engage with site leadership and key stakeholders to align on priorities, drive accountability, and embed sustainability into operational decision-making
Minimum requirements:
- 8–15 years of experience in sustainability, EHS, or operational transformation roles within a global manufacturing environment
- Strong experience in EHS and/or sustainability performance management, including governance, KPI frameworks, and cross-functional coordination, with a proven ability to translate strategy into operational execution
- Hands-on experience with management systems, including design, implementation, or operation (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001), as well as audits and management reviews
- Good understanding of sustainability and ESG topics in an industrial context, with the ability to connect business priorities with operational realities
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams and drive alignment across functions and geographies
- Experience working with data, systems, or performance tracking tools is a strong advantage
- Pragmatic, structured, and resilient profile, comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally (up to ~20%)
- Professional Fluency in English
