Job Overview
We are offering a dynamic internship opportunity for students in Engineering or Applied Sciences who are passionate about data-driven decision-making and process optimization. You will join our Operations Engineering team to evaluate, design, and improve factory logistics and production systems. By blending Lean methodologies with advanced data analysis and simulation tools, you will directly contribute to bridging traditional manufacturing with our digital factory initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers to analyze, map, and optimize production workflows, intralogistics, and overall factory operations.
- Drive data collection and structuring initiatives to feed into our capacity planning and operational models.
- Evaluate operational data using tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, or Discrete Event Simulation to identify trends, track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Design clear, concise data visualizations to effectively communicate insights and simulation results to the broader Operations team.
- Ensure accurate documentation of data structures and process models to enable smooth knowledge transfer and future-proof our digital assets.
- Participate in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams, providing technical insights.
Minimum Requirements
- Interest in high-volume production, process automation, control engineering and medical manufacturing.
- Solid analytical skills with familiarity in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Advanced Excel, Python or SQL)
- Basic understanding of, or strong interest in, production simulation, capacity planning, and digital twin concepts.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex data, statistical models, and simulation results into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Diligent, reliable, and target-oriented team player with a drive to discover unconventional solutions.
- Student in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a relevant field (e.g., System Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management/Logistics, or Data Science applied to manufacturing).
Preferred Requirements
- Understanding of injection molding / automated assembly processes.
- Previous exposure to Discrete Event Simulation software (e.g., Siemens Plant Simulation, FlexSim)
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C) for data processing.
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools.
